Thankfully there are 3 qualified (PhD) alternatives undoubtedly receiving equal consideration by the UofSC BoT. I have every confidence that the students feedback will be heard. No brainer.
— Tyler Matthews (@tyler_digital) April 26, 2019
I hope you’re right but I’ve seen no reason to think anyone in the @UofSC administration gives a damn what the students and faculty think.
— Honest Cock (@CockHonest) April 26, 2019
I can’t speak for the Board of Trustees who make the ultimate decision, but the administration ABSOLUTELY cares
— Tyler Matthews (@tyler_digital) April 26, 2019
Yes^ Most people in administration here are great. BoT is a different story.
— Gamecock Noah 🍇 (@southcarolinafb) April 26, 2019
I would say part of the administration cares, but not all. The ones the don't are on their way out anyway so they've checked out.
— Erika (@eirikoala) April 27, 2019
Bullcrap–go, Caslin!
— Ricky Wallace (@tummycouch54) April 27, 2019
"the students and faculty" == 75 students shouting

*Also the petition for Tate that’s at 500 and growing
— Tyler Matthews (@tyler_digital) April 26, 2019
Out of a student body of how many?
— KOB (@TheOneTrueKOB) April 26, 2019
Lol, the petition bases their support on one speech. I'm glad the adults are in charge. Not saying Tate is it isn't a good choice, but I know enough to not base an important choice such as this on charisma.
— KOB (@TheOneTrueKOB) April 26, 2019
Why?
— Connelly-Anne Ragley (@CABar) April 26, 2019
There may be reasons to reject this candidate but do the protestors take the position that alcohol abuse does not contribute to sexual abuse/sexual assault or just plain assault?
— Joel Gillespie (@joelgillespie) April 26, 2019
just wrote an article about it. Here's the link: https://t.co/BzST5O5Vhg
— Lucas Daprile (@LucasDaprile) April 26, 2019
Oh I read it. I’m a 5 Points area homeowner. Anything to improve the drinking situation around campus has my support including education about it’s influence on sexual assault.
— Connelly-Anne Ragley (@CABar) April 26, 2019
After serving under Gen Caslen, I can’t imagine anything more absurd than this…. good thing they are in college, trying to improve their level of intelligence.
— yinzerINbaltimore (@gemccowin) April 26, 2019
Caslen was an outstanding Sup at USMA. He also brought the football team back prominence.
— carlc (@carlc1995) April 26, 2019
Why though?
— Joe C. (@jcgamecock88) April 26, 2019
Why what's the deal behind this?
— Ass is in the jackpot (@nj_gamecock) April 26, 2019
Why? What's their reasoning?
— KOB (@TheOneTrueKOB) April 26, 2019
Get a grip, children…
— [email protected] (@daisyro02647856) April 26, 2019
Pretty embarrassed to be a @UofSC supporter tonight. @LTGRobertCaslen led West Point for crying out loud. An institution that demands the absolute best out of everyone, no matter their social background. All because he’s a white male. God have mercy on you people.
— ☈ Chris Jackson ☈ (@ChrisJacksonSC) April 27, 2019
I think it had more to do with his comments on sexual assault.
— Dawn (@dawny005) April 27, 2019
While I dont condone anything at all, this is much deeper than that. A lot of people had their pitchforks out for blood the moment it was leaked there were only white men as finalists. Plenty of tweets to back it up on here. It made for an easier excuse rather than his race.
— ☈ Chris Jackson ☈ (@ChrisJacksonSC) April 27, 2019
It wasn’t all white men though. 3 white men and 1 African American. The protest was over no women candidates, but that was a fairly small group. Until Caslen’s comments became public, and the protestors grew in number.
— Dawn (@dawny005) April 27, 2019
Again why is any demographic complaining about the physical attributes of a candidate rather than their moral character and actual qualifications. White, Black, Green, Male, Female.. It shouldn’t matter bc it doesn’t matter. This stuff must stop else our country is toast.
— ☈ Chris Jackson ☈ (@ChrisJacksonSC) April 27, 2019
Because representation does matter. It’s good to have diversity and different perspectives. Having zero woman finalists didn’t bother me much. His comments bothered me a lot.
— Dawn (@dawny005) April 27, 2019
Diversity and different perspectives are good, sure. With that, we haven’t had a POTUS in my lifetime that’s been a true representative of our country. Only the top 1% ever have a chance which is not representative of the other 99%.

UpfSC presidential candidate Robert Caslen blamed victims of sexual assault by stating during a forum when asked about campus sexual assault that alcohol is the cause of rape. Really? Because I’m pretty sure rapists are the cause of rape. @UofSC DO BETTER.

I think it’s ridiculous that you would turn your nose up at such a qualified candidate as Gen. Caslen. Enough is enough with the diversity! Hire the best PERSON for the job! When you start making decisions based on what race or gender, you are discriminating & compromising.
— BuckeyeGirl (@PiperOhio) April 28, 2019
If you listened to Caslen today, you’d hear someone who equates diversity with lower standards, which is total BS. @UofSC is one of the top universities for GRADUATION rates of non-whites. No admissions standards were lowered here either. Caslen needs to wake TF up.
